Description
Irio Tommasini was born in Grosseto and began his life as a framebuilder under the supervision of Giuseppe “the Magician” Pelà in 1948 in Milan. Pelà was a highly respected builder but as he usually built for other people his own name is seldom seen on a frame. Irio worked closely with him, including on weekends, and learned to improve his own craft. In the early 1950’s he had already started to build frames that would be raced by champions, such as the first three-time Tour de France winner, Louison Bobet. In 1957 Irio started his own factory in Grosseto, Tuscany, where it still is today. Irio Tommasini built frames for some of racing’s most noted riders, including multiple World Champions such as Belgian Freddy Maertens and local heroes Mario Cipollini and Paolo Bettini.
This Tommasini Super Prestige from 1982 is fully built with a New Old Stock Campagnolo Super Record groupset. The frame has been professionally re-chromed and repainted by Tommasini in Grosseto, in original Tommasini Racing Blue color. Original repaint papers from Tommasini Grosseto are included.
All the Campagnolo Super Record parts are New Old Stock except for the Tommasini panto Super Record chainring that is lightly used but still in mint condition. Finished with the very rare New Old Stock Rolls Titanio saddle , Almarc leather handlebar wraps and Alfredo Binda toe straps.
